"...and set this like *that*..."

Project Settings

As a rule of thumb, try to make your project settings match the properties of your sources:

- Audio Sample Rate (usually 44.1 or 48.0 kHz)
- Video Frame Rate (usually 23.976, 25.00, or 29.97fps)
- Video Resolution (varies, 640x480, 1280x720, 848x480...)
- Video Aspect Ratio (varies, 4:3, 16:9, 848:480...)

To access project settings, it will depend on your editing program. Just look for anything that says Properties, Movie Settings, Project Properties, or something like that. You'll eventually find it, usually from the main menu at the top of the screen.

Now remember, you'll want to try to set these settings before importing, which is the next step.

TIPS:
  • Video Information for your footage can be found by opening it using AvsPmod, and looking in the bottom-right corner. You could also open it in VirtualDub, and check File > File Information...
  • Audio Information can be found by opening your .wav in MPC (Media Player Classic, which comes along with CCCP) and going to File > Properties > MediaInfo
  • Become familiar with this sort of information.
You will refer to it quite often.
